The Audi SQ7 4.0 TDI is one of the most capable performance SUVs ever built — a twin-turbocharged diesel V8 moving over two and a half tonnes of luxury with effortless, almost shocking authority. Factory output is already serious. But this project crossed a threshold that very few road vehicles ever reach: over 1,000 Nm of torque. Achieved through ECU chip tuning alone, with no mechanical modifications required.
The Numbers
Our certified VT Dyno 6.4 measured the result after remapping: 519.3 BHP @ 4200 RPM and — the headline figure — 1001.0 Nm @ 3027 RPM. Breaking four digits of torque on a road-legal diesel SUV is not something that happens with a generic tune. Look at the dyno curve above: the torque rise from idle is near-vertical, the plateau holds across the entire usable rev range, and the power curve follows cleanly all the way to redline. That shape is the result of a calibration that is working in complete harmony with the engine's mechanical capabilities — the definition of performance chip tuning done correctly.
How It Was Done
Diesel V8 chip car tuning is a different discipline from petrol engine work. The 4.0 TDI's twin-turbo system, variable geometry turbines, and high-pressure common-rail injection operate within a tightly managed set of parameters — and getting over 1,000 Nm out of the system safely means understanding exactly where every one of those limits sits. No plug-in race chip, no one-size-fits-all racechip tune. The SQ7's ECU was read, fully analysed, and rebuilt with custom tuning files developed specifically around this engine's measured output, its boost behaviour across the RPM range, and the injection timing windows that keep combustion clean and controlled under high load.
Our chip and tune approach on diesel platforms means targeting fuel quantity, injection timing, rail pressure, boost pressure, and EGR parameters as a complete, coordinated system — not adjusting one lever and hoping the others follow. The engine chip calibration here was built to maximise the torque output of the twin-turbo system while keeping exhaust gas temperatures, fuelling, and turbo behaviour within the safe operating window of the factory hardware. The result is 1001 Nm that the SQ7's drivetrain can actually handle — not a dyno spike that disappears under real-world load.
As a Stage tuning chip for car solution, this entire transformation required zero hardware changes. The chip car modification is purely software — the SQ7 remains road-legal, passes emissions and technical inspection without issues, and retains every piece of original Audi engineering. It simply makes far better use of it.
